What plant is this?

My mom seem to think that this is a toxic plant, but I don’t know, we used a few different plant identification apps, but I’m still skeptical. Can anyone help me. @LikelyChaya33 @izzyandsugar @Montserlla @planthoe40 This is not a hoya. Hoyas are vining tropical plants, without woody trunks like that. This one almost looks like a rhododendron or azalea. 🤔 Which *are* toxic plants, but nobody goes around eating rhododendrons or azaleas. You would want to make sure no cats take a nibble though.
