My plant keeps getting yellow leaves or brown patchy leav...
@BoldBeebalm71 @PerkyGrasspea80 yellow leaves can be related to many things. Overwatering, fungal issues, normal leaf die off, and yes also iron deficiency. Is the yellowing affecting new growth, old growth, or both? When was the last time you repotted?
@stephonicle I repotted it a couple of months ago with a lower soil pH. More so I think Iβm concerned about the brown patches because itβs gotten worse do you have any suggestions?
@BoldBeebalm71 a ph of 5.0 might be slightly too acidic, especially for an indoor container-grown gardenia. When pH is off, a plant won't be able to absorb nutrients correctly, so that could be what's happening here with the yellowing leaves. The brown patches are more likely from watering or drainage issues, or possibly from fertilizer burn. Does the terracotta pot have any white crusty stuff on the outside? This can be a sign of salt buildup. Terracotta is porous, so it tends to soak up and hold onto excess salts. Do you use tap water?
It's probably a good idea to do a thorough flush of the soil to start with. If you use tap water, try switching to distilled. You can leave it in the terracotta pot, but you'll need to do regular flushes. For the soil, I'd go with a slightly higher pH. While gardenia do like a slightly acidic soil, try something closer to 6.0-6.5.
