Should I allow my drosera to flower?

My little drosera is just starting to grow a flower stalk. As this is my first time experiencing this, I’m curious if I should allow it to flower or should I remove the flower stalk? Thanks in advance for advice and feedback back everyone! #CarnivorousPlants #drosera #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #NewGrowth

@MamaAuntCa Hi carissa, a good question but with all my drosera I leave them to flower )and lots of flower stalks over time) as I have found lots of little sundews popping up as a result of the seeds they tend to drop. I like to consider them the weeds of the CP world as they seem to be quite prolific.
There is a theory that if you cut the flower stem, it means the plant is not wasting its energy on propagating but rather growing more sundew sticky leaves. There may be an argument there but I find the flower stalk doesn’t seem to impinge the growth of sundew leaves to any extent. Ultimately I think it is whether you wish to enjoy the lovely pinky purple flower that eg a Cape Sundew produces (although your spoon leaf may have eg red or other color flowers). And the plan designs its flower stalk to be quite tall so it is above the are of the sticky leaves so it doesn’t interfere with the β€œcatching zone”.
So I tend to enjoy watching the flower stalk grow and bloom but it is ultimately if this is of no interest to you and you prefer the plant just focus on its sticky leaves.
Hope this helps as I have discussed it before somewhere on #cpclubthursday which is where I have posted a lot of information and maybe this week I will focus on spoon-leaf sundews as I looked at forked leaf sundews recently and these are rather cute πŸ₯°
