Lettuce Help?

Hello everyone! I can not for the life of my figure out what’s going on with my lettuce plant. Like clockwork, the leaves get super droopy every afternoon, so i give them a little splash of water, and then they’re perky and gorgeous by evening.

For the most part, one side looks great and the other is flopping, but also i’m getting these brown wilting leaves, and white spots on some of them. Don’t know what’s going on!

Any and all advice is much appreciated :)

They don't like direct sun. Shade them abit. Soil shouldn't dry out either.
@JuicyHeather72 okay, cool, thank you! if you don’t mind me asking, how do you know they don’t like full sun? all of the research that i’ve done says they grow best that way! TOTALLY possible that ive done everything wrong haha, but where do you find your info, so i can look there too!!
Honestly looks like it might be outgrowing the pot too
Greetings from Kenya to you in honolulu.
I grow lettuce here for eating and I had no success until I put them under a 55% shade net,no there are good.
Guess lettuce plant is a lettuce plant.
You can try to put away from direct sunlight and see.
I also agree that the pot may be to small and abit growded.
@Brooklynwtracy hey there! Have you potted the lettuce out of the nursery trays? Those are designed to be planted into the ground/container so the roots can take hold and you can thin them out as needed. It also depends if this is head lettuce, or cut and grow again lettuce. Lettuce is considered a cool weather crop, usually spring and fall. They need about 6” deep space to grow their roots and need to be watered daily. They need 6-8 hours of light but they can’t tolerate harsh rays or t it affects the flavor of the lettuce.
You've got powdery mildew from too much misting and lack of air circulation.

Veggies really need air flow so after you treat it I suggest a small fan to increase air circulation around your veggies.

1. Remove ALL infected leaves.

2. Spray down your plant with neem oil

3. Be careful your powdery mildew can be transferred to other plants REALLY easily.

4. Flush your soil out with the mixture of neem to treat that too because those spores drop into the soil making it spread.

5. Johnnys Seeds has some great seed varieties for veggies and some are created more for indoor use and and bred specifically to avoid powdery mildew and other common issues. If you are interested, that's where I get mine and have had great results.
@YiftPeppermint i do agree with this! i’ll be getting it into its own pot asap :)
@JuicyHeather72 hello leon! where in kenya are you from?! i actually went about two years ago to mombasa, and tsavo west!! it was BEAUTIFUL!

i appreciate your advice about the shade. i’ll try that out!
@TheOddAsity hi! i’m not exactly sure what type of lettuce this was— i’ll have to go back to the nursery and ask some questions it seems.

i’m almost positive this is not a cool weather plant, as i believe this specific strain is local to hawai’i. its called ‘manoa lettuce’. my nursery had hundreds of them looking GORGEOUS in these little pots, in bright direct sun all day. i definitely agree about pot size, though!
@SuperbRaspfern i so appreciate your points, thank you!! it’s so interesting, as this seemed to be the issue from the second i took it home, but he looked so good in the nursery— so sad! either way, i definitely think im gonna be taking him out of the pot, and i’ll spray the soil with neem! ugh.

this plant is outside on a pretty windy lanai, i think unfortunately if it does have powdery mildew, it’s because i’ve left it in the nursery container for too long! ugh. poor guy. thank you for all of your advice, though!!
@Brooklynwtracy I'm sorry 😢. Living in Hawaii, great beautiful place, but with the constant humidity it definitely makes it more challenging. You have the perfect conditions for it to grow. It may have had it in the nursery. The spores are not noticeable at first. And with the wind and humidity it's possible your weather was just the perfect environment for it to spread and blossom. I would definitely keep an eye on any other plants on your lanai because it can spread quite easily. ❤️
I stay in Kipchawat near eldoret the other side of Kenya in regards to Mombasa
How are your lettuce plant now doing?
