Oh, it’s the Polynesian ivy. No, it will not prop from a leaf. You can cut some of the stem and prop it, but not a leaf only.
In tissue culture you can, but this is a Hoya species so it will likely root but may not produce a full vining plant unless there was some stem
Ya I wish propagation was that easy I’d have so many plants I’d be throwing them in peoples yards just cause they’d look good lol
I’m currently trying to root 6 calamondin oranges & 7 Barbados cherries right now
@planthoe40 what plant is this? Pelliona? I don’t believe so. Although a common name might be something begonia, if it’s not a true begonia, then it won’t be possible Im afraid.
@planthoe40 It looks to me like it might be a succulent? If so, yes it will grow. But I can't quite tell if it is a succulent or not. Would you have any pictures of the mother plant you could share with us so we could identify it better?
The attached photo is of my plant -a succulent - that I thought looks like yours.
Whoops 🀭 here's the picture
@GardenCat43 it is not a hoya. @Idplantthat thank you. I have one stem rooting straight in dirt. Every time I so much as bump her pot she drops a leaf. I know it's probably humidity but there's really nothing I can do about that. @luvmygreenhouse it's not a succulent. Mother plant in picture.
@planthoe40 Well that one looks like mine,thoπŸ€”... I might have identified mine wrong πŸ₯΄πŸ˜…
@luvmygreenhouse you did. It's Polynesian Ivy
She’s gorgeous! I completely understand. I have one around here somewhere. I used to have it in one of my windows, and I switched it out with another plant. But no, I have no idea where I put it. πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈπŸ€”
@Idplantthat she's so sparse on top. πŸ€·β€β™€οΈthat area i have her in is very humid. That's why I couldn't put my TV there. Apparently smart TVs and humidity don't go together. But it's obviously not enough for her. She bougee
Yes I am pretty sure you can. My friend propagated a plant's leaf it took like a few weeks.
@planthoe40 Oh shoot! It might be a barrier issue. What kind of soil and light is going on? Then a question I feel like that is not often asked enough: how is the air circulation in this area? I completely understand the concern with electrics ⚑️ and plants. πŸͺ΄ My husband would tell you I’ve blown a few fuses by my distracted watering. But I’m easily distracted. 🐿️ πŸ˜‚ and a walking mess maker… if it isn’t messy, I have been there yet… πŸ˜πŸ§šβ€β™€οΈ I have a sign above my plants in my kitchen that says it looks like the screw-up fairy 🧚🏼 has been here! πŸ˜‰
