What is the best way to water a fern?
0ft to light, indirect
10โ pot with drainage
Last watered 1 year ago
@Teaslowe while you can bottom water, top watering is OK provided you avoid watering the leaves as this can encourage mold and fungus if there is a lack of air flow
But they also like humidity. I often use this diagram as a guide when to water and use a long nose water jug that allows me to reach the soil but not the plant directly. As ferns prefer a soak and dry, sometimes I might bottom water by leaving the pot in a suitable water container for a little while to allow the plant to soak up the water and then ensure any excess is drained. And I also use distilled water.
Hope this helps answer your question. All the best ๐
