Calathea just in water?

Has anyone had luck with their Calathea just in water? I had this tri color in a sandy, moss, perlite, Leca, orchid bark soil mix in my plant cabinet with fans, humidifier and lights. He keeps putting out new growth but then they start to brown. I had heard about switching them to water only. Winter is already hard here in the north east but when it got really cold the dry leaves got worse. I decided to switch him now before he could get worse. I did put some superthrive in the water. Then I put him back in the plant cabinet. He def had nicer roots than I expected! No rot or anything anywhere. #CalatheaCrew #unhappyplants #PlantAddict

So gorgeous
More power to you. I have no room in my home for a cabinet. Honestly, with all the other plants I have that need my attention, I can’t do Calatheas anymore. It’s just too high dramatic for me. I pray that you find that right balance. I’m just not one of those people that’s right for these plants and them me.
@ThePlantMomLife I hear you. If these guys don’t make it through I won’t get any more. They are so dramatic
They’re beautiful! How much light do you give?
@FitJubileeivy mine has a grow light from 7am until 10pm.
