@Prentyce I think some find it controversial but I use Capt. Jacks dead bug brew (weekly) and bonide granules (monthly) for all my plants.
@Prentyce Hi sweet pea!!! 😁 @MrsFiend I haven't had the displeasure either. I feel kind of guilty about it 😞 I'm pretty sure it's the luck of the draw and not anything special that I'm doing. I did have some white cottoney fluff on a Kalenchoe once and all I did was wipe the leaves and stems with rubbing alcohol using a q tip and cotton ball to apply it. Making sure I touched every inch of the plant, top and under sides of the leaves and where the stem intersects and it never came back. πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ Hopefully you get better advice than I have to give.
My Calethia Beauty Star had them. I used one treatment of Neem Oil, and they were gone!
Hey!! @Prentyce thank you for the tag! I’m including a photo of some phenomenal at home remedies for pests! The peppermint oil is a big kicker as it actually suffocates spider mites and prevents their reproduction as it disrupts the process.
@MrsFiend do you regularly regularly treat it with a prophylactic Neem treatment every 2 weeks? That can help keep them at bay. Also, I read somewhere that spider mites like dry ambient air. Try upping your humidity as Philodendrons love the humidity. I haven’t had to deal with mites. But if I suspect anything of the sort, I will treat with a stronger than Neem product. Like β€œBonide Mite” or Trifecta both are without synthetic chemicals.
