Any tips on how to care for my peppermint plant and rosem...
I just got them and i tried to do a bit of research but I couldn't find much. I got them for my witchcraft, so if anyone can also give me tips for harvesting and preservation that would also be helpful. Im mainly looking for what soil and pot type they need as well as any other tips that I haven't thought of to help them grow happy and healthy. #help #happyplants #rosemary #peppermint #plantsmakepeoplehappy #newplantmom

@Floristsdaisy they are indoors and I am going to repot them next week. I JUST moved them into my home so I wanna give them time to adjust before I repot them.
@Floristsdaisy thanks! Do you know what type of soil I sould use? I have my chunky soil that I use for my succulents but i can get a different one if need be
I am still thinking about it and leaning towards the following: peppermint loves water and can tolerate soggy mix, so I'd go with all purpose mix as it has a "moisture-retention" with a good drainage pot.
For rosemary you kind of want to go similar to succulent mix: well drained pot and drained through medium as it will rot if stays for a long period in wet potting mix... I have two but both grow outdoors: one is a bush type, so I have it mixed with sand, another is a regular for VA soil: clay and rocks, and it's not that happy, but still growing.
You can save money by making your own mix if you have needed components laying around.

Peppermint is fairly easy to grow and can pretty much grow in any medium from potting soil to potting mix. It can tolerate low lighting but also can do full sun. Rosemary, however, is fussy! π© so it will not survive indoors; it generally will only live a few weeks indoors then die off, depending on the zone. It can live outside in a pot but loves warm weather and full sun. Rosemary likes a potting mix, not potting soil, and will do better with an earthy mix, more woodie. Woodie plants, like woodie well draining loamy soil. Rosemary prefers a little growing room, so a roomier pot is better. I have, I think, six or seven rosemaries (some different varieties) I grow in my garage over winter then leave outside in summer. If I can help more, please donβt hesitate to ask. Good luck π and keep me updated on how they do. π₯°π«Άπ»
@Idplantthat also remember rosemary is a Mediterranean plant so it can grow similar to your succulent mix. I use coco coir chunky perlite, worm casting, and orchid bark mix with a little sand. Azomite and horticulture charcoal and mine are happy.
@Momo333 you got some excellent advice from @Idplantthat !! I absolutely trust her judgement and would listen to her thoughts on the matter π€πΏ
