Leaves brown spots
Hello, I recently purchased this hydrangea plant from amazon. I'm not a gardener but I love mopheads so, I potted it as I wanted blue and used acidic soil. Now I notice some leaves looking like this. Can any hydrangea owner share what is the reason? Over watering? Under? Lack of sun? Disease?
Thanks
Thanks

Hi Rida, this is directly from Google. I can usually remember things but this had so much to say that I just copied it. I hope it helps.
Brown spots on hydrangea leaves are often a sign of fungal or bacterial infections, like Cercospora leaf spot or anthracnose, or can be due to other issues like sunscald, water stress, or pest damage. These spots can be unsightly but are not always harmful to the plant's overall health, especially if they appear later in the season.
Here's a more detailed look at potential causes and solutions:
1. Fungal and Bacterial Infections:
Cercospora leaf spot:
This is a common fungal disease that causes small, circular, brown or purple-brown spots on leaves, often with a target-like appearance.
2. Anthracnose:
Another fungal disease, anthracnose can cause brown, tan, or black spots on leaves, sometimes with cankers on stems and branches.
3. Bacterial leaf spot:
Bacterial infections can also cause brown spots, often starting as water-soaked lesions.
How to treat:
Remove infected leaves:
Prune away affected leaves and dispose of them properly, avoiding the compost pile.
Improve air circulation:
Ensure proper spacing between plants and avoid overcrowding to reduce humidity.
Water correctly:
Avoid wetting the foliage when watering and consider using a soaker hose or drip irrigation.
Fungicides:
If necessary, use a fungicide labeled for the specific disease, following product instructions carefully.
2. Other Causes:
Sunscald/Sunburn: Hydrangeas need sunlight but can be damaged by excessive heat and light, especially when combined with water stress.
Water stress: Both overwatering and underwatering can lead to brown spots.
Pest damage: Aphids and other pests can cause brown spots as they feed on the plant.

@Elk hi Kingsley! If you click on the profile pic up there it opens to show you what theyβre asking about. βΊοΈ
@SillyPlantGirl Kinsley. And yes, I meant a closer picture that is directly related to the current problem. There is no guarantee that picture in the plant profile is up-to-date or that it accurately depicts the extent of the problem the plant is facing.
@Elk my apologies Kinsley I usually catch auto spell but didnβt this time.
