@ImmenseJade50 YOU ARE TOO SWEET!! @ChirpyGarlic have you checked the roots recently? Mushy tips aren’t normal per se.
tagging extra expert alo peps for more advice / guidance 🤩🥳🌱 @Michelle5986 @BabeVila @JenniferNoel @SuperbRaspfern
First I want to say if the tips are mushy be very cautious when handling her as they are incredibly toxic. They contain calcium oxalate raphides, or crystals they are in the plant the sap etc. Just getting some in the eyes can cause blindness. The sap can also cause an array of other heath issues if handled improperly including death. So please use caution. Each and every part of the plant contains this. So please use extreme caution especially around pets and children.

Now that I said this, what do you have her planted in. She might have root rot which is what @prentyce is getting at. She will guide you from there. Although they like water they don't like tons of it either. The soil I use for my Alocasias is very light with

1/3 peat moss
1/3 perlite
1/3 bark

It's been a great mix for me because the peat holds a bit of moisture while there is plenty of aeration as well to allow those roots to absorb oxygen. Without it you plant can't absorb the water and nutrients.
@SuperbRaspfern THANK YOU SO SO MUCH your highness and greatness Ms Shannon!!🤩🥹😭 you’re incredible!!
So Yeuh🤩😭 root rot is real! Some pics below of the good roots left on my Alo Merlo… and the drama he’s been giving me since 😅 it’s all good. We need healthy roots to sustain a healthy plant😮‍💨🌱😁
Next is root rot plant treatment. Courtesy of Ms incredible Shannon🤩😭🥹🌱

“1. Remove from your pot, to check the roots. If there is anything brown black or mushy you have rot and will need to cut it all off. Keep only the healthy roots they will be whitish in color

Now root rot comes from a bacteria that forms in your soil and then attacks your plant. So treatment is absolutely necessary.

2. Cut off all affected roots soak what is left in:

1 part peroxide + 3 parts water and leave in the peroxide mix to soak for 5 minutes this will kill off the remaining bacteria. It will bubble pot and fizz this is good it’s killing the bacteria.

3. Next is soil the best choice is to throw it away. It’s safest. Or bake it for 1 hour in a 200
Degree oven, not the greatest because it REALLY stinks. But it’s effective. Or the most risky way is to thoroughly flush your soil out with your peroxide mix twice! You need to be very careful and do it thoroughly because if even a teeny bit of bacteria is left your rot will come back.

4. Now the pot, it also has that pesky bacteria you must scrub it out with soapy water very well and then also scrub it down with the peroxide mix.

Now you can plant her again. Be sure to add some perlite to your soil for aeration. This will help oxygen reach those roots and avoid bacteria growth in the future.”
@Prentyce Well said my friend! Great example photo too!

You such a sweetie! Love you girlie, and my pupper is getting stronger every day and very SLOWLY getting less needy. She is like a young child who literally will not let anybody comfort her besides, Mommy. Brings back memories of when my children were young. They are adults now 😥.

You're welcome, I appreciate how wonderful you are with people and you are always there to help out others. ❤️

You're one of a kind and I'm honored to work with you!

The more I learn about her the more I adore her and I mean that from the bottom of my heart. And you all know, I ONLY speak the truth (often to a fault). One of these days I'm going to say @Prentyce "Help, what wrong with my plant" and I know that sweet girl will have my back! Thank you both for accepting me as I am! And @Prentyce for being the wonderful young woman you are! Love you 💕💕💕
