The Areca Palm is drying out
#ArecaPalm the plant was green lush when I got it. Now itβs drying out. I have put in grow light as well. I repotted it few weeks ago as it had too much water. I water it on schedule as it is showing in the Greg app.
4ft to light, direct
10β pot with drainage
Last watered 4 days ago
@ToughChangunga I donβt follow the water schedule that Greg gives me. There is just no way for it to know the exact environment that my plants are in. Since it is a palm, you want to let it completely dry out before watering it again. I actually allow mine to completely dry out then wait a few more days to water mine! They are a desert like plant and donβt like to be too wet at anytime! Water it when it needs it only. Good Luck!πͺ΄
@Ponytailmom will it bounce back?
Let it dry out and trim the brim edges. Watch for root rot. I'm very new to this but this is what I hear all the time π€·π»ββοΈ trimming the brown edges off allows the plant to concentrate on new leaf growth? And let it dry completely. If it starts showing signs of root rot take out and wash root and trim rotten roots off that's all I got π€·π»ββοΈπ I'm sure someone else will hop on and help us both out!!!
I use a hygrometer to test the moisture in my soil. Theyβre very cheap to very expensive but I find the cheap ones are good as long as you just kind of learn where the sweet spot is for your plants. For my succulent, I kind of keep them in the dry area, but your palm is gonna need a little bit more water than that.
@ToughChangunga whatβs brown will stay brown so like @ZappyLilac84 said, trimming the brown off is something I do for all my palms monthly. It makes them feel better! If it is really wet now, you can take a skewer and slowly stick it down into the soil and slowly pull it out all around the plant. This leaves small air tunnels down into the soil that helps it dry out faster! It should at least start new growth once it settles into a regular schedule. Good Luck!πͺ΄
