How to move forward?

I noticed my peperomia graveolens wasn't doing well, so I emptied the soil to find it had no roots. At all. The soil wasn't that moist, but I guehadroot rot set in. Is there a way to save this plant? Water? Or should I stick back into some dryer soil? Thanks in advance! #peperomia #plantaddict

I’d probably cut off the rotted parts and spray the plant with a 1/4 hydrogen peroxide 3/4 water mixture. Give it a few days and try to get it to grow new roots. Or you could just take all of the leaves off, place them on some shallow soil, and try to grow a bunch of baby plants! 🌱
Stick it in water remove the lower leaves and make sure a node is covered in water but no leaves submerged it will grow roots pretty quick in water then transfer to soil when you have 1-2 or more inches of roots! πŸ’•
Those stems don’t look like they have root rot. Is it a new plant you just acquired? Root Rot usually causes blank or brown spots on the leaves but I’m not seeing that either. Your plant does not look great but not terrible either. I suspect, but this is a guess that you bought the plant recently. I think maybe πŸ€” you were sold a plant that had never rooted. Which is bad, people should not sell them like this unless a person knows. Because they need to be taken care of differently. It would never root in soil unless kept consistently moist. With no roots your plant could not absorb the nutrients it needs to stay healthy and have the beautiful color it should have. At this point, use water as I mentioned above and it will come back nicely and be a beautiful plant. Fortunately, Peperomia tend to be forgiving!
@Elk and @SuperbRaspfern, thanks so much. I never saw remnants of roots, so maybe I was sold a non-rooted plant. I'll disinfect the ends and put them in water. Thanks again for your help!
