When to repot this ponytail palm?

When do you think I should give my ponytail palm a repot? I think he hasn't ever been repotted. #ponytailpalm #palm repottinghelp">#repottinghelp
13ft to light, direct
6โ€ pot with drainage
Last watered 1 year ago
They like to be a little tight but if it hasn't been repotted before then it's likely a good idea to do it! Just make sure you're not at the end of your growing season so it has plenty of sun while it adjusts to its new pot!
@PlantMompy okay I guess I'll wait till spring then and then free the little guy ^^
The pot looks about the right size but fresh soil might give a boost in nutrients. The long leaves can be trimmed and the dead ones removed. Ponytail palms are pretty and easy care. ๐Ÿชด
I repotted mine for only the second time this spring, I've owned it 5-6 years.
@Pegster @PlantMompy what soil would you guys recommend?
Well draining soil and a porous pot. You could take regular potting soil and add something to help it drain faster, like perlite.

I'd look into pots a little bit. I saw someone post on here and theirs was almost in a bowl-type container (they have shallow roots) and it looked SO cool! Definitely my plan for the next repot.
