Brown spots on leaves

10ft to light, indirect
8” pot with drainage
Last watered 3 days ago
Rattlesnake Plants are Calatheas, like Prayer Plants, and these plants are very particular about their water, often getting brown spots with unfiltered tap water. This could be your issue. Try watering it with filtered, distilled, or rain water, if possible.

Good luck!

I've been watering my Rattlesnake plant with distilled water for 2 years and he has the same brown rust-looking spots. These starting appearing about 3 months ago.
The problem is not the water!

I could use help....like Cliff.
Thanking everyone in advance πŸ€—πŸ˜

I think this is some kind of fungus or bacteria, I am not quite sure. I used to get this on my Makoyana during winter, and as I cut away the leaves, new healty ones arrived in spring and summer. Untill the spots emerged again in winterπŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

I heard someone call it kind of a "cold", as they are more susceptible (in my place) in winter (as the weather is cooler, inside air is dryer, and less light). And I really feel that it fits.

So your plants might be just a little stressed out, just enough for the bacteria or fungi to take a little hold. I am not sure of the treatment though πŸ™ˆ Mine kind of went away as the plants grew older and stronger (and I got a humidifyer during winterπŸ€”) Maybe @DreamMachine knows❀️

If you are misting the plants, please stop, as the droplets makes it easier for infections to take hold πŸ˜‰

Hi Veronika!

Thanks for responding... πŸ€—

So...my Rattlesnake has always been in the same spot from when he was a baby.
I never ever mist ANY of our plants and am careful not to splash water on their leaves.
Just in case, as I usually do, am going to make sure that he's almost completely dry before watering and...will switch back to bottom watering to see if that helps.
