What does he need?

I feel like this plant is at a stand still and has been, not sure how to make it happier…..thoughts? #UmbrellaTree

It looks to me like your plant is leaning towards the light. In my experience plants often will have more sparse bottoms and reach towards light sources if they are not getting the light they need. I would try adding a grow light or maybe adjusting where it is so it isn’t reaching for the window as much
@EnchantedEnergy Common Reasons for Stunted Growth:
Light Conditions: These plants need bright, indirect sunlight to thrive. Too little light slows growth, while, ironically, direct, intense sunlight can scorch them.
Watering Issues: Overwatering causes root rot, leading to yellowing leaves and stagnant growth. Soil should dry out slightly (top 1-2 inches) between waterings.
Root-Bound Pot: If roots have filled the pot, the plant cannot absorb nutrients properly. Consider repotting into a slightly larger pot if roots are growing out of the drainage holes.
Environmental Stress: Moving the plant frequently or exposing it to cold drafts can cause stress, leading to a pause in growth.
Pest Infestation: Check for pests like scale insects, mealybugs, or spider mites, which can drain nutrients and stunt growth. Tips for Encouraging Growth:
Increase Light: Move to a brighter spot, ideally near a south-facing window, but avoid direct, harsh sun.
Adjust Water: Allow the top 1-2 inches of soil to dry out before watering again.
Fertilize: During the growing season (spring/summer), feed with a balanced, diluted fertilizer monthly.
Avoid Moving: Keep the plant in one, stable location to prevent acclimation stress.
Just to add on to what was already said...these glazed clay pots are notorious for causing overwatering issues because they're non-porous and keep the soil damp way too long. The attached saucer also doesn't promote the best drainage because there are only a few very small drainage holes that can easily get clogged with soil. You should also aim for your soil level to be at most 2" below the rim of the pot, so a few inches higher than it is here.
Hi πŸ‘‹ just here to add that the pot looks way too big for the size of the plant. I would repot in a plastic nursery pot with drainage holes πŸ•³οΈ, then you can water him letting excess water flow out and then place the nursery pot inside your pretty ceramic pot. Choose a pot that is about 1-2” bigger than the root ball. This is a good time to check his roots for root rot. Forrest’s plant profile says he’s an outside plant but from this pic it looks like he’s in a kitchen or bathroom. Greg is going to recommend a LOT more waterings for an outdoor plant so you may be overwatering. Update Greg with Forrest correct location so you get more accurate suggestions for him. 😊
The planter, tho gorgeous may just be a bit too large for ur umbrella plant currently. i would repot in an inch or 2 smaller for now else ur just watering soil to swim rather than get to roots where it needs to be to feed the plant..
@MariansOasis holy moly omg!!!! I didn’t realize it said he’s an outside plant! He’s never been an outside plant, lol! I’m surprised he doesn’t have more problems! Also, he is already in nursery pot inside the pretty pot. Hehe
@EnchantedEnergy haha πŸ˜† never outside! Good that he’s in a nursery pot. But his profile says no drainage so there’s 2 things to change πŸ’šπŸ™ŒπŸ˜Š
