Somehow my comment last night didn't go through I'm so sorry. 😒

I pretty much said what Steph said that's not Mealybugs.

It is however a spider web, your plant must be outdoors, although my plants indoors also get them on occasion. The spider is somewhere in there but honestly he's a friend and will keep bad pests away for you. Personally, I would welcome him as your new bestie.

The web is too thick to be spider mites. It does look like it could be catching a few whiteflies but honestly you plant looks great and if you have a plant pest she would be showing signs. Which I do not see. They signs would be sticky leaves and tiny black/ brown spots that look like speckles. None of those are appearing.

So don't treat your plant. Anything you use outdoors would burn her.

That's good news. However, if you don't want a spider friend. πŸ•·οΈπŸ•ΈοΈ Simply take a q-tip and poke around until you find the spider then you can squish it. That may be difficult they hide really well. Then simply take another q-tip and wipe away any remaining webbing.

Thanks @debbiedo @stephongreg for the tags my friend. Steph I'm glad you recognized a spider web too! πŸ•·οΈπŸ•ΈοΈ
@LikelyChaya33 unfortunately looks like mealie bugs. I’m going through this exact thing right now. How to get rid of it: Isolate the Plant: Move this plant away from any other houseplants right away. Mealybugs crawl slowly but can easily spread and ruin your entire collection. The Isopropyl Alcohol Dab: Dip a Q-tip or cotton swab into 70% isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol and press it directly onto the white fuzzy clusters. The alcohol dissolves their protective wax coating and kills them instantly on contact. Wiping them away manually is highly effective.Spray with Insecticidal Soap or Neem Oil: For larger infestations or hard-to-reach nooks, mix a few drops of mild dish soap or Neem Oil with water in a spray bottle. Thoroughly drench the entire plant, making sure to hit the undersides of the leaves and deep within the stem joints. Do this in the shade or evening to avoid burning the leaves in direct sunlight.Repeat Weekly: Mealybug eggs are microscopic and will hatch a few days later. Check the plant every few days and repeat the treatment for at least 3 to 4 weeks until you don't see any new fuzz. I personally re-potted my plants GOOD LUCK
@Luckeecharm1 @stephongreg @debbiedo I don’t have 70% Isopropyl Alcohol but I have 91% will that work?
That is too strong, but if you dilute it with water you can use it. That’s what just happened to me actually. Google amounts and it will tell you how much of each to use. Ok @LikelyChaya33
I’m going to add @DreamMachine to the conversation too. I know she’s got some good notes from @SuperbRaspfern, and she’s getting into predatory mites.

Idk guys, looking at the photos I see some webbing, but I don't see the waxy white secretions from mealies...? The only photo where I see anything that *might* be mealy fluff is the third one, but the others look like normal spider webs (from a NON-mite spider lol πŸ˜‰). Can you pull out those white fuzzy balls in the third photo to inspect them closer? Poke them with a toothpick or something to see if they're sticky, or break them open to see if any mealies are inside.
@LikelyChaya33 @debbiedo @Luckeecharm1 Oh good! As someone with plenty of spiders πŸ•·οΈ around, I’m glad there were @stephongreg @SuperbRaspfern to let you know!
@LikelyChaya33 well, for your sake I’m glad it is NOT mealie bugs!
@SuperbRaspfern ahhh I’m terrified of spiders but if it’ll help and I don’t already kill it cuz we get so many spiders in my house, then i guess I have a new friend haha, I just won’t love him. Thank you!
πŸ˜‚ You don't have to love him. Have you ever heard the saying. Keep your friends close and enemies closer? This fits perfectly in this situation!!!

He won't hurt you I promise, he's probably just a harmless house spider. He's just doing his own thing. You could always name him like Nadia used to do when she was young. It helped her when they had names. She says she had a lot of Charlotte's!!! But naming them for her helped them seem less scary. It may work for you too. @DreamMachine

You are definitely not alone in not liking them most of us admittingly had phobias when we were young. Now, most of us embrace them and others are still learning to embrace them.

I gotta admit I found a tarantula in my house last week! Ummmmm..... well.....let's just say I yelled for my hubby to save me. He said you like spiders!! I said not HUGE ones, he has to go, he can live, but he must live OUTSIDE!!!! πŸ©·πŸ•·οΈπŸ•ΈοΈ

We all have our lines and boundaries for what we can tolerate. I'm proud of you for embracing a new housemate. Let me know if you decide to name him. πŸ™‚πŸ•·οΈπŸ©·
@LikelyChaya33 THATS the attitude πŸ˜‚πŸ€£ πŸ‘

And Shannon @SuperbRaspfern 😱😱😱 I don’t know what I would do about a tarantula!! But probably the same thing I did this spring with giant house spiders when they come out of the woodworks (literally) to find a mate. Which is: scream quietly to myself and hop back and forth from foot to foot 🀣

Now ive got a different kind of large spider making appearances. One of them made their home under the crate of records in my plant room. But they seem to be keeping themself to themself πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ and not taking their daily escapade across the bathroom floor at midnight like the giant house spiders 😳
We also have very big house spiders their bodies are about 1 inch long not counting the legs. I have made peace with them. Because they are everywhere!! I'll take a photo next time I see one. I never really find any webs from them which is strange now that I think of it. 🀨

I've got 39 chickens which I know snack on spiders. Yet we still get them. Although I am surround by 10 acres of open land and a healthy habitat for them. They don't really seem aggressive though. Now the tarantulas we have DO BITE!!! They are one of the more aggressive types of tarantulas. And if you walk past them they stand up their front feet of the ground ready to fight!!!
