What’s up with my philo🥺
Hello friends! My Philo Jose Buono has started having a rough go and I can’t pinpoint why🥺 this is now the second large leaf in the past week that’s gone yellow but this one is also browning.. the new leaf is brown and crispy too. I wasn’t too worried with the tiny original leaves yellowing bc I figured that was due to age but this seems to be a bigger issue. I’ve been very regular with watering the recommended amount and I can’t spot any pests. I’d really love to grow this fella nice and big (and avoid having a second Jose buono with no leaves in my rehab terrarium😅) Thank you for your insights as always! #GregGang #SadPlant #Philodendron #PhiloFlock #PhilodendronJoseBuono #help

@sounds like your Philo Jose Buono is channeling its inner drama queen – yellowing, browning, crispy leaves? Drama alert! 🎭 But hold up, before you go all Sherlock Holmes on it, take a breath. First, let's do a quick moisture check on that soil. If it's too soggy, your plant might be like "Hey, too much love!" and start protesting. @silverlinings it's not a leaf party without some dance music – give your Philo some indirect light and a little humidity. It's like a mini spa day for your green amigo. Oh, and make sure you're not drowning it with water. Philos are the "less is more" kind of crowd when it comes to watering. Keep an eye out for pests too, just in case they're doing some undercover mischief. As for your rehab terrarium, let's keep it a plant-free zone, shall we? Let's get your Jose Buono back on track to become the big, leafy star it's meant to be! 🌱✨ And remember, even plants need to chill and avoid the drama every now and then!
@HoyaAddict @SuperblyLilac @JungleDreamer I repotted last night and all the roots thankfully looked good! I did see though that it was pretty root bound and it had a super tight plug of soil that was probably from its juvenile days so I wonder if bc it was so tight it was slightly hydrophobic and also not letting it breath correctly? He already seems to be perked up nicely so i’m hoping now more yellowing leaves! 🤞🏻❤️
@silverlinings Yes! Underwatering can look a lot like overwatering 😃 Basically the leaf yellows and dies off to protect the plant from lack of water. (It can’t support all the leaves in the ‘drought’) she may be a little sulky after the repot but she will reward you with fresh growth soon I’m sure 🌱💕
