DIY string of spades repotting success!

I did a thing. And I like it!

Bought the longest String of Spades because I wanted something that would climb. Spent two hours untangling it to find it was double the length it looked! (1&2)

Finally found a way to use a bee, outdoor pot I was given yeeeeaars ago - the plastic bowl from a ready made trifle fit perfectly. Half of a plant frame from a thrift store tied to the pot with the pot’s label string (3)

Used cable ties to attach three tiny cacti pots to the right size pot (4)

Repotted the plant (5)

Now the fun begins…

Finished!!

I’d never seen flowers on a Ceropegia linearis before & I’m living for them!
Wow!!can you come untangle mine? 🀣 i even just cut almost a foot off!
This is so cool 🀩 kudos to you for having the patience to untangle all of those fragile stems! 🫣🫣 CANT WAIT TO SEE IT GROW!! πŸ€©πŸ’–
@Boymom-plantmom If you pay my air fare, sure I’ll even polish each leaf πŸ˜†πŸ˜† Nah, I’m never untangling another string of needle-dolphin-heart-frogs etc as long as I live - I’ve only just cleared up the spontaneous string of tears the job caused!! 😭

You have a fabulous plant there & I’ve spotted the long string of hearts to the left too!
@kscape glad you like it hun. It was fragile & there were victims, believe me, and not just my nerves! One string has been Bobby pinned to soil & some shorter pieces are in one of my perlite prop boxes. Fingers crossed they all grow too. πŸͺ¬
Hopefully your sanity survived that project!! πŸ˜‚
What a beautiful statement piece you’ve created though!! Koodo’s to you!! I wouldn’t have the patience!!πŸ’šπŸͺ΄πŸ˜
@hellokatelandia By the skin of my teeth! Then again, I’ve bought 16 plants since Thursday, so maybe not!! 🧐πŸ€ͺ🫠πŸͺ¬
@AnnMarie420 Thank you πŸ™. My patience account is still overdrawn, but it was worth it 😁πŸͺ΄πŸͺ¬
Wow she looks amazing! Would never have thought of giving a huge trellis but I love it! ❀️
@HoyaAddict Thank you Jasmine 😊. I’d initially been bought a Hoya gracilis from my wish list, but two days into quarantine I discovered that it was heaving with mealy bugs πŸ₯Ί. It was an infestation well beyond acceptable for a new plant so I returned it. Their other hoyas were all infested, some with spider mites too!
So I had to swap it for something else. I’d bought the trellis for the Hoya so was determined to get something which would climb/could be trained up.
The other half of the cage trellis now has a Stephanotis floribunda on it. (Excuse the 100L bag of perlite in the pic!)
@MothGoblin Wow! They both look amazing 😍 I may be a Hoya addict but I’m kinda glad you had to send it back. These are so unique! (Everyone has a trellis Hoya haha) I’m going to keep my eye out now for something cool for my hearts πŸ’šπŸ«Ά
@HoyaAddict (blushing) thank you 😊
My Hoya carnosa Krinkle 8 had been unchanging for a year, until I repotted her a month ago. Now I have three new leaves πŸƒ
I still really want a Gracilis tho, but a pest free one!
Happy hunting πŸͺ¬
Beautiful!! 😍 I however never would have survived that. No string plants for me πŸ˜…
@MothGoblin the plant to the left is silver glory 😍
