Why is my Guzmania losing color?
My bromeliad is losing its color. I named it for the color the flower bract had when I got it, but now it’s a brownish purple color. It’s been under the same plant light the whole time. Any ideas? #Bromeliad #planthelp @RJG @HoyaAddict @WickedValkyrie @dreamlettuce

Those is normal in the life of a Bromeliad. Once the bloom dies the plant goes into mommy mode and will produce a pup. Once the pup is about half the size of momma plant you can remove it, making sure it has some roots and pot it up. Unfortunately the momma plant will die, but her Ohio will continue the life cycle of the bromeliad.

I agree with @Sassylimey! Once the bloom dies, it browns and darkens. As Sarah said, it’ll start producing pups if you keep up the plant care! 😊🌿🌿
