Bought my first orange tree!
Orange Tree
Welp Iβm doing it! I bought an orange tree yesterday. Just repotted it. The new pot is a lot wider but only a tad taller, but it is what I had on hand at the moment. I canβt wait to start seeing flowers!! I was told it may be a couple years so I got a more mature one. More $$ but I should see fruit this summer!!!! Does anyone else have an orange tree? We need to be buds! Ha get it π€£π€¦ββοΈ This is a big leap for me and Iβm crazy excited about this fruit tree journey π𧑠#HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #OrangeTree #FruitTrees #GregGang Oh and look at those amazing roots! #RootPorn

Hey! I have some little potted fruit trees. They are awesome πππ and citrus blooms are THE BEST SMELL IN THE WORLD. I want to have a lemon bonsai in my kitchen just to smell it all day! Mine love lots of sun. They can get dry but then they want a deeeeeep watering. And watch out for pests, mine were ants and leaf rollers. π±βοΈβ€οΈ
@RealSimpleMama thank you for that info! Do you think a systematic could be entered? I do with my plants but wasnβt sure about fruit
@Boymom-plantmom Iβm sure that would be fine. And for me (Texas zone 8b) I donβt feel like it was a huge issue. I was racking my brain to say as many things to help as I could!
@RealSimpleMama thank you β€οΈβ€οΈ
@RJG I know they say it takes a few years for some thatβs why I opted for a more mature plant
Sooo exciting!!π Iβd say look into when itβs best time of year to fertilize. You want to encourage new growth when the risk of pests is low. I fertilized my lemon tree a bit later into summer one year and the brand new tender leaves were then vulnerable to leaf miners. Of course I learned that after the fact because I was researching how to get rid of leaf miners! π«
@MariansOasis what I found was to fertilize right after repotting and then thoroughly water. Which I did.βThough conflicting info on when from now@on. Article I read said once a year but the bag says a few times. It will be a learning experience for sure!
