Okay, so here’s the scenario: I was gifted a Gold X Red Mixed Mum this last fall and have managed to keep her alive ever since. She belongs outside during the warmer season, but any tips on how I should prune/maintain until it warms up? #NewGrowth

I’ve never pruned mine that were in the ground outside. I just made sure they had a bit of mulch to protect their roots and then waited until spring when new foliage began to appear. They are very much like the lantana. The old growth should stay intact through winter. Once spring arrives and you see new growth coming from the roots, she’s divided and doubling with a new root system. The Chrysanthemum is a cut flower which should be treated this way to avoid death. Prune close to the trunk when she starts growing green… just make sure you keep the new growth. As long as you keep her mulched, she won’t need any water but once a month and it should be minimal. Keep it in a bright spot and she should come back as long as she doesn’t freeze over or dry out her roots completely.
Following. I wonder how much to prune as well.
Thanks for the insight! I’ll make sure to follow pursuit‼️πŸ₯Ή
