This philodendron Pink Princess had grown and needed to be repotted. Today I noticed that when my kitten got in the house, he broke the top heavy limbs off the plant. How can I save the broken part by rooting and repotting. Beautiful plant hate to lose!!
What do I do?
1ft to light, direct
8” pot with drainage
Last watered 22 hours ago
Easy! Just stick it in a jar or vase of water until it grows new roots, then when the roots are at least 3-4" long you can move it back to soil. First, make sure the bottom of the cutting is a smooth, angled cut just below a node and remove any leaves from the bottom portion of the cutting that might touch or be submerged in water (they'll rot). Change out the water at least once a week or whenever you notice it's look kinda icky. You should start seeing some root growth after about a month or so.

If you can share a pic of just the cutting, I can show you exactly where to cut and which leaves to remove ☺️
Thank you for the response. That was the method I thought I would use, but thought perhaps a better one existed. I understand the process and think I can cut it correctly. Again, thank you so much!!
@GrayGranny no problem! For a plant like this, you'll have better luck water propping first. Going straight into soil, it's more likely to rot.
