@LeafMeBee Congratulations π on those beautiful blooms! Love the colors!
@LeafMeBee Nice job I love zinnias theyβre amazing. When you dead head you can sprinkle them in soil next year growing season. Congratulations
Oh zinnias are so cheerful, arenβt they? π₯° I totally do what Deb @ILoveMyPlants does and leave the deadheaded blooms all over for more flowers later too!
@ILoveMyPlants great note. Thx. I do too. Didnβt know what to expect and pleasantly surprised
@LeafMeBee My mom has them all along fence row and I love picking bouquets of them . Every one has a unique look. Dont tell @DreamMachine I bring fresh cut flowers in ππ
@ILoveMyPlants mums the word πππ. I was thinking the same but decided for my first blooms Iβll let nature have its moment. so instead I keep taking photos
@ILoveMyPlants @LeafMeBee GASP. The horror! π Omg though, the other day I picked some flowers and herbs for a friend, wrapped them in a towel and tin foil, and then guess what I was picking off and squishing in the car?? Aphids, thrips, little flying ants, and a whole plethora of unidentified bugs π³ SO glad I didnβt bring them in the house. π±
@DreamMachine geesh! Yes the horror. Warning noted.
@LeafMeBee yes π Like my friend Shannon said: βFlowers are what thrips love and they always start there, then move to the leaves. The flowers taste sweet and are like candy to them.β
While I wouldnβt dream of telling other people what I think they should do, I am a bit of a harsh mistress in my own rules and practices. π I never bring cut flowers indoors (hubs knows not to surprise me with bouquets),
and any new flowering houseplant gets the flowers chopped off upon arrival. Flowers will always grow back, but thrips are simply a NIGHTMARE to eradicate. π« To me, itβs just not worth it π€·ββοΈ But I do take lots of happy pictures of my outdoor blooms, like you , and let nature have her moment π₯°
