Snake plant.. propagate?

Hi plant family. I need help asap. My #SnakePlant had a new leaf that has been unfurling since I got her and today when I went to check on it, the leaf was completely disconnected. My guess is my little sister hit it accidentally and broke the leaf from the inside.

Should I try to propagate this beautiful leaf or plant it back into the soil? I’m not sure how to go about this and I’d hate for it to go to waste. Please help me!! #help #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #NewGrowth #PropagationStation #SucculentLove
3ft to light, indirect
7” pot with drainage
Last watered 6 months ago
Propagate. There are tons of videos on YouTube. I like PlantswithKrystal. She had a few for this. Good luck. Can’t wait to see what happens. ☺️
Oof! That’s alright! I agree, propagation to get those roots going. Just trim it near the bottom, let it callous overnight and then you can propagate it right in water or in moist perlite/spagnum moss
Hi! I agree with the above😊
I'm just adding, I wouldn't blame your sisterπŸ™ˆ The bottom of your leaf looks rotten and the soil looks damp and a little compact. These plants don't do well in wet environments and needs to dry completly out between waterings😊
@rebbieirl Thank you! How do I avoid the bottom of the plant (if in water because I don’t have any perlite or spagnum moss) from rotting?
@PrizedShadscale I realized I forgot to reply because I went down the rabbit hole on her YouTube! Thank you for the suggestion ☺️
@slayonium thank you! I have a Reddit account so I’ll be sure to go look to see what other people have to say😊
@MockingJay I figured it was rotten but I think the reason it finally fell was because of her, we got home late from a concert while she was visiting me and well you know how that goesπŸ˜… I usually water once every two weeks but I made the mistake of misting the leaf in hopes of it opening up and I think that water got trapped inside and might have contributed to the rot. Do you have any advice for the rest of the sprout in the soil? Should I cut it out to prevent root damage or just leave it and see what happens?
@WiseChaffflower you are probably right it might have been the water from the mistingπŸ™ˆ
I don't think you need to cut it out as long as you keep it dry enough. Though that pot looks pretty big to water every 2 weeks, they usually like it tight in their pot.
I water mine just once a month, and it is cramped in its pot, feeling when the leaves starts to get a little wrinkely.πŸͺ΄
@MockingJay I definitely won’t be misting them again πŸ₯² I think that the pot it’s in is just the one it came in so I haven’t touched it since buying. I know that the soil is mostly pebbles/sand with regular soil on top so it does dry out really quickly and I’m in basically a desert climate so I’m not too worried about it being too wet
@WiseChaffflower as long as you let it callous over night it should be fine! If you can leave it out for a whole day that’s even better but I find overnight is long enough
@WiseChaffflower I love her. She’s so relatable. Glad you enjoyed it.
