To my surprise my mini Monstera has roots growing out of the hole in the bottom of her pot. When you change to a bigger pot,
Do you trim the roots down or do you leave them the way they are?? I’ve just never had to do this before so I wanna make sure I do it correctly. Thank you so much in advance. #TheWateringHole
Good morning Tina @Luckeecharm1 ☀️. I typically will not trim roots because I don’t want to introduce anything from the soil into a new cut. Instead I spread the ones I can out and the long ones I kind of wrap around but not too circular. However, with any that quickly send roots out of their pot, like syngonium, I will trim and give a little spray of dilute hydrogen peroxide. I don’t have monsteras so I’m curious to see what others have to say. 😊
from everything i’ve learned, don’t trim!! size up your new pot around 1-2 inches so the new roots have lots of room!
I’ll add that this is a very resilient plant! Mine has thrived with a million mistakes. They’re not terribly fragile or fussy!
@MamaLinne @MariansOasis @hannahmay thanks very much Ladies. .. do not trim got it lol
@MamaLinne Resilient!! Now that’s my kinda plant 🪴 👍
