Think he’s wanting to climb! He was starting to attach to the hanging plant above him πŸ˜‚ So I gave him something more appropriate. It’s nice to see my Hoya finally do something. #Hoya #HoyaHangout #HoyaCarnosaTricolor

He looks great with that cute trellis β™₯️
@OrangeGrass thank you!
Ooohhh he’s gonna love it!!! Can’t wait to see him fill it out. If you haven’t trellised a Hoya before, if you’re going to direct the tendrils, make sure the ends of the tendrils are going up. They want to reach up and if we face the end down it messes with them. There’s a whole thing about winding them in the right direction too. Here’s what comes up when you google training a Hoya. Frankly I didn’t know about all that when I first started with Hoyas. Mine are fine. I have a few upside down leaves but I think they are kinda cute 😊
@MariansOasis thank you!! I did reloop after the photo so the tip is up. I’ll have to check which direction I looped him and correct it if it’s the wrong way.
Not a professional, but doesn't carnosa tricolour have pink instead of red? Looks like australis lisa to me
I would agree with @Araceae. The leaf form let me think Lisa, at least before I read you said it's a tricolor. That seems to happen often, mine was mislabeled, too. I'm not 100% certain, but I think the australis doesn't produce milky sap like the carnosa varieties. so - if that is even correct - that would be a way to be certain, should you ever prop or harm it by accident. (If you even care πŸ˜…. Both are stunning. )
I do think however the tricolor can have red leaves as well depending on how much light it gets. Even my princess had dark red leaves when I put it directly under my lights.
@Araceae and @MusicalRedmint I have no clue about Hoyas so I just had him labeled as what he was when I got him πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ He is sitting right in front of a grow light. I just looked for a leaf to pluck off but they are all too pretty to pick one off. I’m happy with him no matter what he is 😊
Nah. Leave them be. Why bother. At some point, it will hopefully bloom (if it is a tricolor that will take a while longer, but still), and then you will have your answer
After some googling I believe I agree with you both that it’s a Lisa. There is no white on the edges, only center. And the leaves are not at all narrow and pointy. All are very round. I’m going to relabel him.
Awesome! Its always a treat when my new hoyas explode with growth !
I was thinking lisa at first glance too @Araceae @MusicalRedmint
I lije them better than a tricolor carnosa myself, andvtheyre harder to find !
