@vvvelo you should still get a spineless cactus. You will love it. Especially when they flower. And the care will already be basically what youβre already used to.
@SirLiquorice you see how it has your favorite glued on flower ππ
@RJG @SirLiquorice but I am afraid that it will elongate and lose its sphere shape.
@vvvelo they usually keep the spherical shape. I have some of those myself. They just get bigger. But they grow so slow you wonβt even notice much growth
@vvvelo this one has looked the same for about two years now. It has grown some more dots but barely. Super slow growers and they donβt need water often. So you wonβt need to worry about it losing itβs shape. You can find pics of larger ones
Oh wow @vvvelo that is a very cool looking cactus. I think you should get it.
@Stall54Jo yeah I donβt think @vvvelo will regret getting one of those astrophytum at all. They are pretty easy to care for. Just need lots of light and dry soil. They donβt like high humidity or too much water. They can be rot prone so I just donβt water mine very often. Especially be careful not to overwater in the winter when dormant. But they are very low maintenance and very very slow growers. So they wonβt take up much space at all. Could fit in the same spot for years and years probably. And they do seem to flower fairly often once old enough. Flowers donβt last really long but most cacti flowers donβt. And you can find exotic hybrids from Japan that will gain value and can be sold for more later. Thereβs some pretty cool hybrids they have made. And it should keep that same look and shape even as it grows larger as long as itβs getting the right light. They seem to do well indoors or outdoors for me but may have more flowers growing them outdoors. The one I have inside may not be old enough to flower yet. So that also may be why it hasnβt. Even outside it may need to wait a few years to mature enough to flower. If I remember right I think they are native to Texas so they seem to like dry soil and lots of heat and sunlight. They probably get some shade from trees and shrubs in the wild but they still are used to hot sun and weather.
Drew @RJG, I (being a plant nerd but not an app nerd) have no clue how to respond to your funny message (willing to be taught), so all I will say is ... Indeed we do, Drew, indeed we do. π
@ThePorchLady which funny message π
