#TipsandTricks

I have developed a little strategy that I hope can help some group plantings succeed.

This green coral cactus needs water a bit more often than the other plants in this arrangement. When it’s looking a bit droopy between group waterings I use a syringe to inject a little water (not a full dose) directly into to the soil at the base of the cactus. This keeps the run off to a minimum and helps localize the moisture. I have to be careful and observant with the surrounding plants because the moisture will still spread some, but it’s a lot more controlled this way.

That is genius!
Thank you @sarah10orio ! That is high praise coming from you. πŸ₯°
@Chevysgirl11 thank you so much. ☺️ I have wild ideas all the time and I never know which ones are going to work out.
I took a second reading at 1 hour and the moisture was still very well isolated. I gave it a pretty good amount too, about 6 of these syringes, roughly one ounce.
Patent and market this!! You’ll be rich and famous overnight!! Well, famous among plant people. LOL

@HeraMonstera 😘
Agree! That is brilliant πŸ˜€
@ValiantAtom13 thank you so much. 😊
Neat idea. Thanks for sharing!
@GrayGranny you’re welcome. πŸ˜€
@HeraMonstera I have a 3ml for the lithops and small succulents and a 10ml for larger ones like my air plant which is hard to water. I read somewhere that the way to water air plants is to pour water into the container, swirl it around and then turn it upside down and drain the water out. It doesn’t seem the worse for it. It looks as perky as ever- no leaf loss, but do they ever grow larger? It looks like it did when my friend gifted it to me. I’d have to break the bunny to transplant it. Anyone know what’s below? When I put the water in it and swirl it, it seems to have a lot of empty spaceπŸ€”
@CuteChollipo I’m afraid the seller may have glued your plant to its planter. That is very common with air plants. If they used hot glue you can use isopropyl alcohol to release it. Isopropyl is a recommended treatment for a lot of different plant problems, so you don’t have to be overly concerned with it damaging the plant.

It will grow when properly cared for. Personally I’m horrible with air plants. I just recently gave up on my own. Maybe someone else can chime in.
@HeraMonstera OMG that's awesome

I have a huge arrangement that I have a similar issue with

That's for the idea
Fantastic Idea! These are something I have on hand from rehabbing baby squirrels!
@LaBori276 I hope this helps your arrangement. Keep me updated.
@Pineapplemom I see your squirrel in your profile pic. So cute!
@HeraMonstera great idea!πŸ’‘ great plant name, too πŸ˜‰
@stephonicle Thank you so much. 🫢

What a great idea! My lace aloe is in a pot with a climbing aloe and a lil warty and she's been looking dry recently... I'm gonna try this! I've not been wanting to just water her (even keeping it localised directly around her) in case I damage the others but this is definitely worth a shot! (& Having cats a syringe is something I do have... I'm some cupboard... Somewhere?! Haha πŸ˜‚). Thanks for the inspo! Xx
@JenniB81 let me know how it works for you. I found watering with the meter inserted helped me to avoid overage.
@HeraMonstera Thank you!
