Yooooo HOW is this happening?? I got this #Philodendron #JungleBoogie for free off of my town’s Buy Nothing page. She was 6’ tall, twisted and lanky so I chopped her top. This is the first leaf she’s put out since I chopped her and suddenly she’s #veriegated ??!?!?!? What does this mean?? Have I misidentified her?? Help me #GregGang !!!!
2ft to light, indirect
11” pot with drainage
Last watered 1 week ago
@LauraLynne WOW talk about luck! πŸ’š You just might have misidentified it! Either that or it's a completely different plant! When you follow the stem from the variegated leaf down are there other solid color leaves on that stem?😁 When I run the new variegated leaf through Google Lens it identifies it as a Jose Buono! Have you tried to run it through Greg again? Just act like you're entering a new plant. You can always delete it after you see what it says then change your original. Good job pruning! It's beautiful!! πŸ’“
@princesspitstop All the leaves below are solid! I contacted the previous owner and she was equally shockedπŸ˜†
@LauraLynne That's wild. Congratulations!! 🀩 Awe your kitty πŸ₯° Such a cutie!
No where near a Jungle Boogie actually πŸ˜…. Jungle Boogie looks more like a green Caramel Marble or RoF or Bob Cee whtvr. Does look quite like a Jose Buono
@LauraLynne some Philodendrons have a sneaky variegation gene that just chills in the background like a quiet kid in class you wouldn’t even know they’re artistic until one day they pull out a sketchbook and start drawing masterpieces. When you chopped her, you sent a shockwave through her system. That stress, plus fresh growth hormones and a bit more light, told her, Alright… time to show them my good side. Now she’s pushing out variegated leaves because she’s got the energy for it but fair warning, it’s a diva act to maintain. If the light drops, nutrients run low, or she gets lazy, she’ll go back to green faster than my friend ditching her gym membership in every February after new year resolution…. How to keep her on the catwalk…Bright, indirect light those creamy patches can’t photosynthesize, so the green bits need all the sun power they can get. Keep watering like a steady relationship not clingy (overwatered), not neglectful (crispy).A gentle feed in growing season think smoothie boost, not energy drink…..If there were a Plant Parent Olympics, you’d be taking home gold.
@princesspitstop @Araceae I just rechecked and Greg ID’d her as a Congo???πŸ€£πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈ
@JungleDreamer That's so interesting πŸ€” and makes a lot of sense too. I hope in @LauraLynne case it continues to push out those gorgeous verigated leaves. I've got my scissors in hand right now about to start chopping ALL my plants!! πŸ˜‚ You think I'm joking? Hahaha πŸ’• Anyway we're not going to accept anything less than verigated leaves from here on out!!!! πŸ˜πŸ’šπŸͺ΄
I think you have a Jose Bueno (photos3-4). You might also have a mix of philos in that pot because the lobes on some of those leaves looks like🧐 (I don't remember yet).

That is a great find!!
@LauraLynne Greg's ID ain't right. Congo is closer to erubescens with more arrow shaped leaves than this one with the billie/BM/ataba/Jose-type leaves [lack of a better term lol :P]
@Araceae So what’s your guess?🀣
She is DEFINITELY doing it again, yall!
Variegated leaf #2!!!!
