Cacao tree root rot: hoping for recovery

My #CacaoTree seems to be suffering from root rot or something similar. yellowing leaves and her root system is currently pitiful… hoping she pulls through! Just repotted her in a much smaller pot and clean soil. Not sure what else I can do at the moment besides wait.
4ft to light, indirect
3” pot with drainage
Last watered 3 years ago
I’ve lost a couple cacao trees in those early stages as well, but yours is even further along than mine ever were. It’s not fun ☹️ I hope she comes back too though!!
@PlantingPeace thank you! I had one last year that was a good 2-3 feet tall with huge, beautiful leaves before I brought her inside for winter and she keeled over on me. Seemed to be the same problem - I thought it was just over potting and was careful not to make the same mistake with this one, but now I’m not so sure. They just don’t seem to make the shift from outdoors to indoors very well. Stresses them too much, I think. I’ll try to baby her as much as I can in the meantime. Fingers crossed!
