Pitchers getting crispy on the ends; dormancy?
I’ve been wondering if it might be time to put my purple pitcher plant in the back porch for the winter. The tops of several pitchers are turning brown and crispy. What do you think? #CarnivorousPlants #CarnivorousClub #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy
2ft to light, indirect
3” pot with drainage

Hi Rachel. Temperate pitcher plants like sarracenia should go into dormancy around this time as temperatures drop. You’ll definitely want to let your pitcher plant rest, but it shouldn’t freeze. So it may be best to put your plant in a refrigerator rather than outside, just because of how cold it gets in Indiana. Good luck and happy growing! πŸͺ΄
@LaSiguanaba it’s a very sunny, enclosed back porch. It’s not insulated, but the windows give it a bit of a greenhouse effect so that it rarely gets close to freezing. I will keep an eye out for colder snaps though.
@TopFlyingsquid Sounds perfect! ☺️
