She came with some lovely long roots that were all rotting at the base and fell off over the next 2 weeks, after which point I put her on moss in a humidity dome. She’s been in it for a little under 2 weeks, started growing a new root on both sides (β€œfront and back”) within the first few days. This morning there is a new nub between the 2nd and 3rd leaves. I can’t imagine what would make her spike in this state (virtually rootless) so I have to assume it’s another root and she’s planning to reabsorb and drop that leaf soon, but damn if that location doesn’t make me secretly hopeful for a spike πŸ˜… #PhalaenopsisBellinaOrchid #PhalaenopsisOrchid

Wow, what a journey she’s been on β€” and huge kudos to you for giving her the best shot at recovery! πŸ™Œ That quick root response in the humidity dome is such a great sign. And honestly, that nub between the 2nd and 3rd leaves would totally have me rooting (pun intended πŸ˜„) for a surprise spike too! Either way, whether it’s a root or a spike, she’s clearly telling you she’s not done fighting. Keep doing what you’re doing β€” you’ve got this, and so does she! πŸ’š #OrchidWarrior
@Catbaby 2 days later it’s looking solidly rootlike and a new leaf is growing, I think it’s draining nutrients from the bottom leaves to fuel the new leaf and roots. Still happy and grateful to be seeing it looking healthy and pushing out such rapid growth (for an orchid) in just 2 weeks.
