A friend has gifted me this lucky bamboo today. Some of the leaves have brown tips or spots. I’m inclined to think it was left on the shelf for a long time before my friend purchased it.
17ft to light, indirect
5” pot with drainage
Last watered 1 month ago
Hello! Welcome to the #GregGang #GregFam. Usually brown tips can mean Three things.... 1- it's been underwatered 2- it needs more humidity 3- it's been over fertilized.. Unfortunately you have to investigate on whickone is effecting your plant! It's hard getting to know each plant individualally.Hope this is helpful!! 🌻🌿πŸͺ΄πŸœπŸŒ΅ #LuckyBamboo
I noticed on your plant card it says it's in a southeast-facing window getting 6+ hours of direct sunlight. That could be causing the brown leaves. Bamboo prefer bright, indirect light, so an east or north facing window is better they either get AM direct light, which is gentler, or little to no direct light. Bamboo can also be sensitive to tap water, so watering with distilled is best. Lastly, although they don't like their soil to completely dry out, they can develop root rot if left sitting in very damp soil for too long. Those glazed clay pots tend to prevent soil from drying out quickly enough, so you might consider moving it to either a standard plastic nursery pot or even just water, which is a common way to grow bamboo πŸŽ‹

@stephonicle thank you for the advice. The leaves were brown before I placed it near the southeast-facing window so that’s not the cause but, keeping in mind your tip, I will probably move my bamboo. As for the pot, it is in a plastic pot. The red glazed clay pot is decorative. This is how it was sold.
