About to rename this Rapunzel.

My monstera cobra is putting out these super fast growing tendrils with no leaves. I’m so confused.

According to the Costa listing this is a slow growing plant that will do well in low light but thrive in bright light. I have this about a foot from a south facing window and it gets additional light from an east facing window about 13 feet away. There is also the lamp but that is a regular led bulb. I imagine it gets some light from the lamp, but it’s not a grow light.

I read recently about a different plant that will stop putting out leaves in bright light “because it doesn’t need them” to feed. Is that was is happening here? At first I thought it was etiolation but that wouldn’t make sense either.

It has this one thumb sized leaf and below that the tiniest itty bitty baby leaf. Below that it’s all sheaths with no visible leaves at all. Do you think letting it trail instead of climb has made it smaller?

I’m stumped. Thoughts?

These are called Runners.
@HooraySucculent oh! I have never known this type of plant to put out runners. After some reading it makes perfect sense. This is fairly root bound. I like this pot/spot so looks like the solution is root pruning.
@HeraMonstera not plant related, BEAUTIFUL NAILS!
That’s very interesting.

Also, I love the fabric on your chair.
@ModestHardbeech no kidding, they’re done very well 🤩🙌🏼
@ModestHardbeech @PrizedShadscale @elisenavidad Awwww. Thanks y’all! 🥰 I’m so flattered!
