@Charli3Plant Thanks! It’s a mixture of these ingredients: Luck, BRUT worm castings, Dynomyco mycorrhizae, Hoffman organic succulent soil, Bonsai Jack’s succulent mix, and these lights https://a.co/d/eFVkOqP .
OMG! They look amazing! I’ve never seen such juicy succulents 😍 Thanks for sharing! Do you mind sharing your substrate ratios? I’m new to succulents and I’ve been too afraid to commit fearing I’d kill them. Soil has been the biggest challenge for me to figure out πŸ™
@Charli3Plant Age definitely plays a role. I purchased it from Mountain Crest Gardens in October of 2022.
@Camron Those are gorgeous!!
@OrangeGrass Honestly the pre-mixed soils work great. The Lola spent most of its life in a 3.5 inch terracotta pot with 20% Bonsai Jack’s and 80% Wonder Soil https://a.co/d/fyVZkgG. Terracotta pots can help prevent early mistakes due to their great drainage.
@Camron Thank you! I have four succulent leaves growing roots atm and one cactus leaf. When should I move them to their own pots? Their roots are super tiny atm except for the cactus. Cactus root is about 2 inch long. Do you have all your succulent and cacti in terracotta pots?
@Charli3Plant Most definitely. Their large specimen section is always worth a look.
@OrangeGrass Propping succs is the best 🀩. I would wait until the mother leaves are completely shriveled before considering repotting. I like to avoid repotting altogether by preparing a new pot with soil, placing the succulent leaves on top, and letting them grow. They don’t need water until the mother leaf is crispy. (Picture for reference). You could repot them into their own pots now if you’re feeling adventurous. It would be easier to do it early before the roots take hold. Yes, I’ve found terracotta and glazed terracotta to work best with all my plants. Hope this helps!
I've never seen echeveria that big. πŸ‘‹
@Camron Your succulents are goals 😍 So plump and luscious πŸ˜‚ I love how cute they look. I can get some 2 inch terracotta pots. It does sound like the smart thing to do. You said they don’t need water until the mother leaf is crispy, does that mean I don’t need to keep the soil moist? Thanks for the tips! Very much appreciated!
WOW 😍 i cant pick a favorite!! All of these photos are gorgeous!! Stunning πŸ’šπŸ’š
@OrangeGrass You got it, dry soil is best. Once the leaves show signs of drying up, I like to bottom water them. This causes the roots to seek water from the bottom of the pot and prevents moist top soil from rotting the leaves before they have a chance to grow. All my succulents are watered this way. https://thenextgardener.com/blogs/news/when-and-how-to-bottom-water-succulents @cereal Thank you! πŸ™
