Pink diamond echeveria propagation success!

wanted to update you guys on a #Propagation project I have growing. I recently had to chop and prop the stem of my pink diamond Echeveria. (I had a small one first, then later bought another big one with a baby attached). after I almost lost my first small one, I decided that I would chop her stem so she could grow healthier roots. I took a few bottom leaves off to prop them. they are doing well and starting to show growth. it took them a while takeoff, but I was so pleased when I saw that they were putting off new roots.. πŸ€©πŸŒ±πŸ€“ the Echeveria that is the mother plant of these props has also started growing new healthy roots, & will be ready for a repot soon enough. I have kept them under grow lights & mist them daily! This is my first time propagating an echeveria! #PropagationStation #Propagation #SucculentSquad #SucculentLove #Succulents #echeveria #PinkDiamond #PinkDiamond #NewGrowth #GrowLights #GrowingSuccs #PropDontShop

that’s so exciting !! propagating succulents is sm fun:)
Ahhhh dream Echeveria right there!! That's so awesome!
@LittleSongbird they are so finicky ! Not sure if it’s the genetics but even my healthy one still doesn’t seem happy yet .. gonna repot her soon in gritty mix and see how that works for her!
Oof, I didn't know that. Are lolas finicky? My sister wants one and I plan on getting it for her on Christmas
@LittleSongbird I think Lola’s can be finicky however, they have really delicate shallow root systems so they need a well draining pot mix a porous pot and lots of light. Mine has done very well would say almost there. More stable genetics than the pink diamond echeveria . I wouldn’t if she does some research on it, then I’m sure she will be able to keep it happy and healthy
@TidyTigerpear Congratulations on your successful propagation! That is nice to see maybe I can copy your success although I doubt it…
@Ms.Persnickety sure you can ! It’s fairly easy to prop once you get the key points down !
@Ms.Persnickety dry soil till the roots show, and lots of light
Congrats job well done πŸ‘πŸ€©
@TidyTigerpear Thanks for the tip! I’ve been trying but no luck so far, I think I can see roots but I’m not sure. They just look like tiny whiskers??
@LittleSongbird I got one from a grocery store thinking it would die immediately but right next to a window watered weekly it grew so fast that I’ve had to repot it twice in the Thats 6 months! I used sticks, stones and bark from my backyard to mix with regular soil and then crushed some charcoal from our fire pit on top of the soil it seems to be the magic recipe!
@Ms.Persnickety post a pic of you can !
Congratulations on the propagation success!
@TidyTigerpear okay let’s see if you can see the tiny whiskers? What do you think should I keep misting them??
Yes mist once a day!
@Ms.Persnickety lightly mist ! And bright light they look like they are on the road to get stronger with the proper care! I’m curious are using window light or grow lights ?
@RefinedSandwort thank you!
@UpbeatBabyburro that’s an awesome soil recipe ! I have recently repotted mine with gritty mix , they really like the acidic soil. Mine has done really well since I’ve gotten her (Lola) anyways I wish we had good soil around here all we have is clay, which is a big no for succs πŸ˜‚πŸ™ˆ
@TidyTigerpear Grow lights! Since I only have West facing windows, and that limited space is for all the Ficus plants. Those I can’t move because they like to throw hissy fits !
