Can someone give me a rational reason why an alocasia that’s been sitting in the same spot with the same plants for months all of a sudden has spider mites? This makes no sense. πŸ˜‚I wish I would have taken a picture. #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #HappyPlants

Did you bring any plants inside From outside?
They teleported, or what Harry Potter fans like to call it, they Apparated
All Alocasia are sooo beautiful. But they are definitely spider mite magnets! They have a smell that attracts them and they have chemical compounds that draws them to them called metabolites.

It’s really quite fascinating and super annoying at the same time!! But if your like me than they are irresistible plants with giant leaves! Spider mites are such a pain in the butt with them though 😑

They are not cheap but I buy predatory mites now in spring and fall for spider mites and hang a bag on my alocasia and other plants in my house as a precaution. I have not seen a spider mite since.
