Hi everyone! First post here but my Hoya Lisa, β€œPete” has been in a west face window the last couple of weeks and doing well! I’m in the Midwest and we are being hit with some pretty cold weather but I made sure none of my plants are actually touching the glass of the window.

Today I noticed a brown spotty area on one of Pete’s bigger leaves and I checked and he, like the rest of my plants are pretty cold soil wise but the others (one including a Hoya carnosa compacta) seem to be doing just fine?

Is Pete just too cold or should I be worried?? #Hoya #HoyaHangout #hoyaLisa

Hi Jayde πŸ‘‹ could you please share a photo of the leaf you're concerned about?

It's quite normal for most plants to act out at this time of year (no matter how hard you try! πŸ˜‚) dropping leaves, odd brown spots etc... so it may well be nothing to worry about!

Two things I've noticed with mine since the weather turned (& I'm in Scotland so kinda comparable to temps in the American Midwest just now? Though I think your nights are colder than ours! πŸ₯Ά We've only hit -3Β°C this last week)...

1. My soil is drying WAAAY slower, like less than half as quickly as it did in autumn! So it's even more important than usual to dip test your soil before watering, or you'll end up with root rot and sad plants 😒
2. The humidity, which in my house is usually a constant 60-70% without any effort on my part πŸ˜‚, has been yo-yoing a bit because of the cold wet air coming in meeting dry hot air from the radiators so it's been a bit of a balancing act with me having to keep a special eye on my plants that are in windows and near radiators.

Both of these things CAN cause leaf browning... which is why it would be fab to see a photo of the leaf you're worried about πŸ₯°

I'm sure it's an easy fix whatever the cause! One leaf means you've noticed early and we can figure out how to make Pete happy again! πŸ₯³πŸ’š xx
My lisa seams prone to occasionally getting a brown looking patch under the surface of a leaf too. I thunk its from being a little to moust if its the same as mine? But a pic would help
