Found a zz plant at Walmart and thought I’d give it a try! Is different from my other plants but I like this one, she’s cute (: #ZzPlant #PlantHaul #NewPlants
6ft to light, indirect
5” pot with drainage
Last watered 1 day ago
@Nature_freak9 Beautiful! You'll love it! It's such an easy plant I forget I have one lol
@princesspitstop good to know! I think it’ll be a nice change from my other higher maintenance plants lol
@Nature_freak9 Definitely! I don't think I would have it in a self watering pot though. I just noticed that it was in one. They have rhizomes in the soil that look like little potatoes that store water so they don't need to be watered as often and actually prefer their soil to dry out completely before giving them water. You can still keep it in that pot just don't fill the reservoir up. 😊
@princesspitstop yeah whenever a plant comes in a self watering pot I usually don’t use it as it’s intended lol! I remove the inner pot and just water them like normal and use the self watering pot for cosmetic reasons. Thanks for the tip!
@Nature_freak9 Sorry, I wasn't sure if you knew πŸ™‚ I don't even know why they put plants in them that aren't meant to be to begin with. πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ It's like they're setting people up who aren't aware for failure. 😞 It's still a nice pot though!!!
@princesspitstop no worries at all! I think it’s honestly just because a lot of big box retailers aren’t fully knowledgeable on the plants they sell (since they get the plants from big brand nurseries, and they’re simply just the sellers) so they just assume that self watering pots are good for all plants
@Nature_freak9 Your probably right. That makes sense. ☺️ Have a good night!
I have one and love it. Grows very fast .
