@SnazzyAnahaw you don’t have to separate the pup from the main plant.

Snake plants like to be root bound and it looks like you have plenty of room in the pot, so it will be happy where it is.

You have a healthy looking plant, so keep doing what you are doing!!
I agree with @IWantThatPlant , just leave it and any others that pop up and you'll have a full pot. If you do decide to separate them one day, do it while repotting. Remove all soil from the roots and you'll see the rhizome connecting the two plants. Use a sterilized pair of scissors or pruners and make the cut right in the middle of the connecting rhizome and then pot them up.
