Hello wonderful plant people. I hope you and your plants are growing well. While out mowing my property today, I found this tree that I’ve not seen before. I was introduced to it the hard way, notice the thorns. I took a picture of it and looked it up. It appears to be a southern prickly ash sometimes called a Hercules club tree. Lots of big thorns. I have never seen one of these trees before and I have no idea how I got there unless a bird pooped out a seed. Very cool funny it identifies as poison sumac but upon checking @Ms.Persnickety is right as usual. It also made me think of a tree that amazes me every year with the two tones located in our spiritual peace garden. Thanks for all the wonderful plants and trees you share .
@ILoveMyPlants , hi Deb, thank you for your comment. 👍I looked up poison sumac. It doesn’t look like it extends this far south as I am in West Central Florida. Also, the description of poison sumac says that it does not have thorns. This tree has wicked thorns.

I'm a little late here but yup the people above are right this is a Hercules or southern prickly ash tree, with the common name of toothache tree with I bet hints to what medicinal uses it was used for.
I just love the coloring of this, I hope you keep the tree definitely one to preserve even if it's introduction was a little sharp
