Hello everyone I hope you’re having a great day. Here is a new plant that I bought. It’s going in my succulent garden. I was told, by the lady at Lowes, that it is a coral cactus. The tag says “Euphorbia ammak Crest” Is that correct? And is this just the official name? plepie @BabeVila @BuffCaperspurge @CutePolypremum @DanDenMan @DreamMachine @FunBoglaurel81 @HFplantoasis @HummingbirdMint @Idplantthat @ILoveMyPlants @Jadedbelle @Jujube @Luckeecharm1 @ModestCoconut13 @Ms.Persnickety @newplantgirlies @Preciousplants1 @princesspitstop @QuickKalopanax @sarah10orio @Shells_Garden @SillyPlantGirl @SizableSuncup20 @smushface @SolaceInSunshine @RefinedSandwort @Ponytailmom @MusicalRedmint @MamaLinnei @KaylaG2010 @BEsucculent #thethread #euphorbia
Hmmmm? The scientific name for coral cacti is euphorbia lactea cristata. I don’t know what this plant is, though? It also doesn’t look like a coral cactus from the angle that the photo is at.
@maci.in.bloom , it’s tag says Euphorbia ammak Crest. I was wondering if it had a common name.
@maci.in.bloom , I just read where it’s also called an African candelabra
@Malagueña this is a picture of my coral cactus. i’m not sure, they don’t really look similar.
Good morning I think this wonderful lady might know. @Boymom-plantmom she’s good with the official names as well as does @RefinedSandwort . Oh and let’s not forget @DreamMachine .
@Luckeecharm1 Yes they do yours is just a smaller one . Nice job but I tagged some other peeps who are in the know to .. Let’s see if I’m guessing with a blindfold . @Malagueña Darn you know I want one too 😤
@ILoveMyPlants well, I actually don’t have my glasses on ha ha ha
@Luckeecharm1 , hi Tina. Thank you for your post. I do not think it is a coral cactus despite what I was told.
@Malagueña @Luckeecharm1 @ILoveMyPlants @maci.in.bloom well, it’s not a Euphorbia lactea 'Cristata’ (which is actually not a single plant, it is two, with the crested euphorbia on top usually grafted to a stronger columnar euphorbia base because they couldn’t survive on their own otherwise) but it is a euphorbia. I believe the tag is correct, and the employee there simply mistook it for another species of crested euphorbia, since they do look quite similar.
@DreamMachine Well I can’t even pronounce that 🤣 But is @Luckeecharm1 ‘s the same plant ?
Hi Bob! Super cool plant! I’ve noticed that a lot of times, there are regional differences in common names. With so many different types of cacti and euphorbia, there’s bound to be some mixups! It certainly looks like a piece of coral, whatever it may be! 😍
@Malagueña

What an unusual-looking plant...
Magnificent!
I have no idea what this is BUT I WANT IT, SO JELLY!!! 🥰🥰🥰
One of my plants apps returned this result. It is definitely some type of Euphorbia but to me it looks more like a mermaids tail than a coral.
@Shells_Garden , here is what the label on the pot said. You will have to click it to get the full name.😊
@ILoveMyPlants , I looked up the plant according to what was on the pot label. Here’s what it says. You’ll have to click on the photo to get all the information. I cropped it a little bit too close.
