I'm not sure if anyone remembers that i rescued a big pot...
I'm not sure if anyone remembers that i rescued a big pot full of lace Aloes from my Mam earlier this year...
It involved relocating 3 medium plants and 5 pups, just leaving the two biggest plants which i didn't repot until late spring.
I wish I'd done the other plants sooner tbh 😅 as they were practically decapitated with just one spindly, sad root remaining on one plant, trying to suck any moisture out of the rock hard block of soil it sat on 😭 (good job they're hardy).
Today i was rewarded when i spotted a flower sprouting 😍 I'm quite excited, but will be sure to prune it before the seeds drop so i don't end up with a million baby plants again (i have only just found homes for 5 of them).
Also there was a sad, leggy pup that i didn't think would survive.. it still looks a bit sad, but it's birthed two pups (😅) and they are looking super healthy.

@UnbeatenSoybean Heyy, I do! Nice work 🙌 I really like the giraffe figure 🥰 and congratulations on the flower spike! I’m sorry to tell you though…pups will happen even without seeds. They make offsets which are pups that grow directly from the parent plants stem or from underground. My Big Papa lace aloe just decided to have a huge batch of children again 😅 So, enjoy the flowers, you don’t have to worry about cutting it off! And do you have access to any perlite, orchid bark, or pumice? Your lace aloe will be much happier in soil that’s at least 50% chunky bits like perlite or the above. Less likely to rot that way!

Aw no 😆 i realised they grew pups, but didn't realise they would be so many 😅.. i have far too many tiny plant pots scattered about as is 🙈 I'm excited to see it flower though 🤩
There is a good deal of perlite in there, i promise 😅 i just left it out of a thin layer on the top.

And, yes 😆 I’ve found that it’s pups galore with my lace aloe. The first time I removed all the pups, he had 33. Now those pups are having pups which are having pups 😂 Here’s my Big Papa right now. He has not yet flowered this year…I wonder how many pups that is 🤔

@DreamMachine Papa plant is cute! I honestly get a little stressed about the pups 😆 i feel like I can't let them die but it's a lot... Maybe i could open an aloe store 🫠
I also have a Mexican Butterwart, and after the winter dormant period it's split itself into 6 different plants 😵😵 idk how I'm supposed to keep up with these guys 😅

@Succulent_Soul thanks for the tip- i did try to leave a few gaps in hopes water can still evaporate, but I'll certainly keep an eye on it.
