What am I doing wrong?? Too much light then too little light. too much waterβ¦ but somehow also too little?? Iβm so confused π© Please help! (Is it possible that the pot is messing with it? Iβm almost certainly doing something wrong but I have a theory that something is up with this pot as well)
3ft to light, direct
7β pot with drainage
Last watered 2 months ago
Hi @DaintyArrowhead π your plant info says in a south window with direct sunlight and a grow light. Is that right? Iβd say thatβs way too much light. They prefer indirect light so in a south facing exposure it should be filtered through a curtain or something similar. I agree with @MollyMoon it looks dry. But youβre smart to be concerned with too much water π. Too little and the leaves wither, too much and root rot can set in. If she were mine Iβd take her out of the pot and see whatβs going on. Is the soil dry and not absorbing the water? Or is there water pooling in the bottom and those roots down there are constantly wet? I suspect not because the leaves would be getting limp and kind of translucent looking because theyβre full of water and canβt get rid of it. A look at the roots and soil will tell you a lot. If the soil is too wet or if itβs not absorbing water Iβd replace the soil. Use a plastic nursery pot with drainage holes. Pick a size about 1-2β bigger than the root mass or root ball. If the pot is too big for the roots itβll just hold way more water than the plant can deal with. I just went through this with my tineke. Her leaves were droopy and had a few suspicious black spots. Took her out of her 10β pot to discover the bottom wasnβt draining properly! Repotted with fresh soil and went down to an 8β pot thatβs just a tad bit deeper than the other with much larger drainage holes π³οΈ. Iβll be curious to see what you discover!
@MariansOasis thanks so much for the feedback! Iβll take a look under the hood and see what she reports back. π€π€π€
