What am I doing wrong?? Too much light then too little light. too much water… but somehow also too little?? I’m so confused 😩 Please help! (Is it possible that the pot is messing with it? I’m almost certainly doing something wrong but I have a theory that something is up with this pot as well)
3ft to light, direct
7” pot with drainage
Last watered 2 months ago
That soil looks very dry. It does say you just watered it, so I’m not sure if still that dry, but typically they don’t like to dry out all the way and soil should remain moist.
They also like to be closer to light.
Hi @DaintyArrowhead πŸ‘‹ your plant info says in a south window with direct sunlight and a grow light. Is that right? I’d say that’s way too much light. They prefer indirect light so in a south facing exposure it should be filtered through a curtain or something similar. I agree with @MollyMoon it looks dry. But you’re smart to be concerned with too much water πŸ‘. Too little and the leaves wither, too much and root rot can set in. If she were mine I’d take her out of the pot and see what’s going on. Is the soil dry and not absorbing the water? Or is there water pooling in the bottom and those roots down there are constantly wet? I suspect not because the leaves would be getting limp and kind of translucent looking because they’re full of water and can’t get rid of it. A look at the roots and soil will tell you a lot. If the soil is too wet or if it’s not absorbing water I’d replace the soil. Use a plastic nursery pot with drainage holes. Pick a size about 1-2” bigger than the root mass or root ball. If the pot is too big for the roots it’ll just hold way more water than the plant can deal with. I just went through this with my tineke. Her leaves were droopy and had a few suspicious black spots. Took her out of her 10” pot to discover the bottom wasn’t draining properly! Repotted with fresh soil and went down to an 8” pot that’s just a tad bit deeper than the other with much larger drainage holes πŸ•³οΈ. I’ll be curious to see what you discover!
@MariansOasis thanks so much for the feedback! I’ll take a look under the hood and see what she reports back. 🀞🀞🀞
