Dragon Fruit Cactus (not tree that produces fruit). #Hi all, so my hubby got this Dragon Fruit Cactus from CVS last year. It was in a coffee cup so I put it in a pot. Few months later and I had to repot it again- it outgrew that pot. Now, it’s been about 7 months that it’s been in this big Talavera pot (13” I think?) and it’s starting to overflow. Just thinking about repotting - my eyes roll back in my head lol. I guess my question is- would you repot? Split it up and repot? Or leave it alone!? #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #PropagationStation #dragonfruitcactus

No drainage
I’ve never determined if mine is dragonfruit (Greg’s guess, young branches look like dragonfruit) or something else — but it’s MASSIVE growing out of a tiny pot. You can definitely leave it. Instead of growing horizontally the branches will probably get longer.
Hi Emily, yours looks like the cactus but I could be wrong. I have 2 of the trees and although similar looking- they’re pretty dark are different. Here’s a pic of my tree. It’s about 8 feet tall and its stems are very thick, unlike the one I questioned about. there’s more to it- I just can’t move all the plants to get a good photo.
I took these so you could see the difference
Mine is definitely the cactus! The pot is only about 4” but the leaves are 2 feet long and it’s still pretty happy. I don’t know how to repot it without damaging it. That said, every time a piece breaks off, I lay it on the soil and most will root! So I actually have a few.
