1ft to light, indirect
2โ€ pot with drainage
Last watered 1 year ago
repot immediately mold can cause fungus which can kill your plant
overwatering i think. money trees are very prone to overwatering, you really only need to water every couple of weeks. mold is a fungus and loves soggy environments. i recommend reading and watching videos about them! i hope you can save Willow ๐Ÿซถ
@SmallfryCat oof, donโ€™t throw it out! Hereโ€™s an article on how to prevent it (after you repot) https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/houseplants/hpgen/preventing-mold-in-the-soil-of-a-houseplant.htm Good luck, you can do it!
also mold maybe caused by like not enough good air flow this happened to me with my humidifier. i didnt clean it out while on a trip and pink mold formed in the tank then caused it to grow all over the soil. so making sure air flow is good and humidifier is cleaned
and over watering too just depends
@Planternextdoor thank you so much for the advice โ€ฆ do you know what soil I should use ?
@SmallfryCat use a well draining soil since those hold water in their trunks. Something like a cactus or succulent mix will work in a pinch.
@SmallfryCat Iโ€™m gonna go out in a limb and say that your pot, whether it has drainage or not, is the issue. I bet that the roots are blocking the drainage and water might be pooling at the bottom. Combine with lack of air flow and it s a recipe for mold. You can repot in a bigger pot for those 3 trunks, rinse with a hydrogen peroxide solution and mix cinnamon into the soil to help to continue combatting any spores or issue.
It does look really wet so it might be holding onto too much water and therefore the mold is growing. I would pull it out and check the roots. Cut off any that are dead or mushy and repot it in some fresh soil.
Diluted hydrogen Peroxide will kill it and aerate the soil just dilute in a spray bottle and treat once a week.
And better soil like tropical will help as well !
I regularly treat my plants with H202
