Rove beetle dilemma in my alocasia

I put out sticky traps in my plants and I’m a little upset now because I found this guy. And after looking him up I found it’s a rove beetle and it’s a predatory insect. It’s currently in my alocasia which was going through a thrip problem πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈ I showered it and hopefully took care of them but a little sad to catch this guy when he was just helping me out!

Photo of alocasia and the new growth it’s getting since I removed the thrips.

Can you share what you did to remove them? Also beautiful new growth🀩🀩 congratulations!!
@Persephone I sprayed them with a mix of water and alcohol and a drop of dish soap. Then I went to the shower and hosed them down. I put my plant sideways to avoid most of them getting into the soil. (I did also replace the top two or three inches of soil)
Once I sprayed them down in the shower I brought it back and took it outside and sprayed it all around with neem oil. I let it dry for a bit and then brought it back inside. I’ve been watching it every single day to make sure I didn’t miss any. And in a week I will spray again with the water and alcohol mix and clean down the leaves. And another dose of neem oil spray all over.
@Persephone and thank you❀️❀️. I could see there was new growth coming but it wasn’t coming out. I think the thrips might have been stunting it’s growth and draining it’s life so slowed down the new growth. Because it was almost instant once I cleaned off the thrips the new growth popped out.
@julesplants you got this!! The plant looks so beautiful now🀩
And thank you for the the detailed guide on how you got rid of them β€” definitely saved for the next time I have these little demons!!
@Persephone πŸ˜‚ no problem! And thank you!
Your plant is looking beautiful!! Those sticky traps are extremely sticky and will catch any type of small creatures. Even geckos can get stuck to them. I have gone off the idea of using them since I found that out. Also, the animals or insects stuck to them get a slow death, so I think they are not humane. Thanks for sharing your thrip technique, very helpful πŸ‘πŸ’•πŸŒΏ
@LuxuryMint I agree. I didn’t think of it really.

But of course! No problem! Haven’t seen one yet so seems it worked!
