Clean your humidifier regularly for plant health
#FungusControl #TipsandTricks
When was the last time you cleaned your humidifier? I don’t mean emptying the water but cleaning it’s parts and tank? When was that?
Humidifiers don’t boil water in the tank and regular use contributed to growth of biofilm that can introduce spores to your plant foliage. Your humidifier has area and parts that require regular scrubbing to keep them sterile. The larger the humidifier, the more often it should be cleaned since the water remains in the tank longer unless you run it 24/7 non stop at max output. Even then, before the next fill, your humidifier should be cleaned and parts checked for buildup of calcification or biofilm which leads to mold and premature failure of your humidifier as well as plant disease.
Your plants need clean humidity production to keep their foliage healthy.
1. Never run your humidifier with bleach or vinegar in it.
2. Your humidifier type has instructions that can easily be found online on how to safely clean it and what products you should use.
Weekly cleanings are highly recommended to extend their working life and promote clean humidity production.

Finally, please remember that mold begins with biofilm which is initially clear until it turns yellow, then pink, then green, then black. You want to stop it the minute it turns yellow. Don’t just refill. Check the tank parts that are designed to show the problem for a reason. And don’t forget that you and your family and pets breathe that air too.

@AnthuriumQueen hmm good reminder. I haven't cleaned mine for 2 months 😱. The only good thing is I only fill a bit at a time so it runs out of water every 2 days and looks totally clean. Better do it though...
@LuxuryMint i do the same. I never fill them completely so the water runs out fast. It helps keep me from wasting precious water and keeping it cleaned out. 💕
@MelissaF facts!
@Camron 🫶🏽
I’ll admit I don’t do mine weekly but I fill my tanks every day as that’s how much my house lacks humidity. I only use steam humidifiers so the water gets boiled and I can look down in easily to see the little heater unit and if it’s starting to build up salt. Our house has a water purification system with UV lights but it also has a softener so I tend to get salt build up if I don’t clean every other week.
@LauraLynne it could be. The bacteria travels through the humidity and if you’ve ever watched how much water acculturates in a cup or clear container if you hold it over the outlet end, imagine bacteria sitting on your leaves. 🥺 Make sure you look up how to clean that specific humidifier so you won’t damage it. Good luck and I hope it all clears up!
