Mass Casualty Event. #HappyPlants #TheWateringHole some of you have read about my fungus gnat issues. I had proped about 50 babies and I’m pretty sure gnats had infested my potting soil bag left on the porch. After a month I was still getting hundreds of gnats each week on my countless sticky tapes and this is after watering only with microbe lift. Yesterday I was done. All these props were meant to be give aways to yet undetermined people and I just could not. I saved the succulents and will just let them go bone dry but tossed about 40 of these plants  and you know what? it’s kind of liberating! I’m that person that can never throw away a cutting, but when you already have two of every plant that you propagated…

@Just1More yes it is liberating!! 😮💨 And it’s especially so when you’ve labored over something and get to the point finally, where you can allow yourself to toss them without feeling badly. For years I HAD to prop my cuttings, for whatever reason. Now I can say goodbye to those I don’t need more of and toss them in our green recycle ♻️ bin 🙌
@MariansOasis you get it! It was just insane. I have too many of these plants already, and I would’ve had to work to find people on either Facebook or Nextdoor to take them for free. At least this way, I keep my nursery pots. 😂
@Just1More yes it’s not effective on wet soil. When I had the gnats- I let the soil dry out- putting them outside helped a lot. Once the top 1-2 inches was dry I applied it. If they needed watering- it was always bottom watered. I haven’t had 1 of those nasty little buggers since. I’m sorry, I should have explained it better
@SillyPlantGirl that makes sense. These were 23 inch pot propagations so that wouldn’t have worked, but I will remember that for later thank you.
@Just1More I purged a lot recently via Neighborhood!!! And then that just became another thing to manage 🤪. So if the plants are worthy of rehoming I’ll do it. But otherwise ♻️ 👋 🪴 go make great landfill/compost somewhere 👋
